Fashion staples you’ll want to have fully stocked for festival season

Many Canadian consumers experiencing FOMO after seeing celebrities post their Coachella photos this week, are getting inspired to put together their own outfits for upcoming festivals across the country.

For small business owners who want to seize this as an opportunity to maximize sales this summer, we’ve put together a list of must-have items that customers will be on the lookout for (or can use as fashion inspo) when putting together their festival outfits.

Cowboy Hats

People either love ‘em or hate ‘em. With cowboy hats, there seems to be no in between. That being said, though, the people that love them, really love them. During the spring and summer months, cowboy hats are a must for most festival goers, particularly if they’re unique or come in different colours.

Small business owners can use this as an opportunity to put on a BOGO event, since many friends like wearing matching hats at festivals in hopes of taking Insta-worthy photos.

Fringe Jackets

While the fringe trend is one that is particularly nostalgic, many festival goers opt for it when putting together their outfits. Recently, Queen B was seen sporting a matching fringe jacket and cowboy hat, which is sure to inspire many festival ‘fits this summer.

The great thing about fringe jackets is that they can be sold all year round, so if they don’t sell out, customers may still be interested in purchasing them later in the summer regardless of whether festival season is over.

Bandanas

Bandanas are another trend that give total ‘90s vibes and many people (festival goers or not) are finding ways to style them with different outfits. Whether they’re worn in hair or tied to the neck, bandanas can be a great summer staple that can give an outfit a fun pop of colour.

Bling Bling

Festivals are all about the bling – but not so much the jewelry. Because many festival goers tend to camp out for the weekend, it’s not the best idea to pack jewelry pieces that can easily get lost. Instead, customers will opt for bedazzled clothing items, whether that be denim jackets with gems, sparkly belts or even jewel-encrusted socks or shoes. As a result, small business owners can use this as an opportunity to show off anything shiny enough for a magpie.

Graphic Tees

When all else fails, graphic tees are a go-to. Festival goers who are camping out for multiple days may want to toss a t-shirt or two in their bags to sleep in or even wear on the second or third day when they’re tired and have had enough sun. Plus, graphic tees can be styled in a multitude of ways and worn all year round, so this is one item small business owners don’t want to sleep on when putting their summer orders in.

Denim Sets

Denim on demin doesn’t just give Britney and Justin vibes circa 2001 anymore. With matching sets continuing to be a trend this season, festivals are the perfect opportunity for customers to channel nostalgic vibes and get creative when paring matching denim pieces.

Because all of these items are versatile and can be worn all summer long, remember to use this a selling point when customers come in looking for them!
